Exploring pattern and printing on textiles

On this very creative workshop, which will take place in my home studio in Sheffield, we will be printing onto fabric using a range of simple but effective printmaking techniques. You will make and then print with simple hand made stamps and mark-making tools, and also use these to mono-print onto your fabric.

We’ll experiment with colour, pattern, texture and the other elements of design as we create a series of fabric samples (which can be used for sewing projects) before deciding on a final design for a larger textile piece.

There will be discussion about pattern and what makes a successful design, as we consider our work in progress. I will be on hand to demonstrate techniques, discuss ideas and outcomes and offer advice.

Included in the price for the workshop, as well as all printing inks, printing equipment and materials, you will have a tea towel and tote bag to print onto as well as swatches of fabric for experiments and a section of fabric 1 x 0.5 metre for a final design.

Workshop runs from 10am – 4.30pm. Bring your own lunch and I will provide drinks and biscuits. Once you have booked your place I will be in touch with further details about the workshop.
