Good morning!

Here’s some colour for you. The first image ‘Circuit’ is the main image in the @openupsheffield brochure. The other two images are ‘Tapisserie’ and ‘Loop’ and they are all available on my website with free postage.

I’ve decided that during Open Up I’m going to have a sale here on instagram at the same time, so if you can’t actually visit you can still buy something if you’d like to. I’ve not done this before, but I’ll share everything in my studio sale on here over the weekends of May 4th/5th/6th and the following weekend too. I might even do some lives!!!

A bit of spontaneity this week when I could really do with finishing off some commissions and tidying my studio up (but there’s still time before @openupsheffield next week……😆)

I’ve been having a lovely absorbing time experimenting with a repeat design that began as cut paper. It’s now a stamp which I’m trying repeat printing onto paper, wood and no doubt some fabric too. It’s generating lots of new ideas which I’m really keen to try out.

I will have to pause though and get my studio cleared up.

If you would like to try this technique along with carving a soft rubber block to print onto fabric I have a new workshop coming soon ‘Block Printing with colour and pattern on textiles’ that I’ve added on my website.
Update - For some reason Instagram won’t let me share it, so I’m adding my other new workshop which is a linocut workshop also in the Bradbury Makers Shed in Hillsborough Park Walled Garden. You can find both on my website.

Today I’ve braved this murky weather and I’ve been depositing cards around my local independant shops and galleries including @thegreenshopsheffield @cupolacontemporaryart and @anniejudesshopsheffield and you can also buy some of my cards via my website.

I found this time lapse film from a while ago when I was tidying my studio. Tidying my studio is a regular occurrence as I am super untidy but I cannot function happily in a mess.

Right now I’ll admit it’s a mess again, but in less than 3 weeks it will be lovely and tidy because it’s OPEN UP SHEFFIELD!!

I hope you can come and visit me and my fellow Hillsborough Open Up Sheffielder Trevor Fearnley. 😄 there are loads of other participants in S6 too. Why not make a day of it!

Playing with simple printing this evening. It’s a lovely relaxing antidote to stressful computer work today.

I’m not worrying at all about things looking finished or perfect.

I’ll be sharing these techniques with a small group who have experienced life changing trauma in their lives this week.

In just over 3 weeks time I’ll be opening up my

In just over 3 weeks time I’ll be opening up my home studio for @openupsheffield.⭐️

Come and see where I work, have a go at some printmaking, look through my sketchbooks and find out more about what I do.
There will be a selection of original woodcut prints onto paper, printed textiles and my hand printed wooden ‘flat pack’ prints. I’ll have older work for sale too, including lots of bargains and some lucky dip bags which were so popular last year. I was able to donate £50 to charity from the sale of these.

This is about the 15th year (!!) I’ve joined in with Open Up Sheffield (I think) and it’s always so much fun. It’s so interesting to see all the various spaces where artists work. I’m part of the #s6 group though I think most are up in Walkley. It’s not too far down the hill to come and see me. 😁

In between making prints I also like to make collages.

I’ve been cutting, arranging and sticking in a fairly intentional way, as I’m thinking up new ideas for greeting cards.

I’m also beginning to think of an idea for a children’s book I think I’d really like to create.

I’ve chosen the Pixies Monkey Gone to Heaven as I enjoyed listen to Prof Alice Robert’s on Desert Island Discs while I did this and she chose this as her first song.
