This work is inspired by my regular walks around my local park – which took on a special significance during lockdown – and came about as part of a collaboration with Sheffield ceramicist Bev Seth. We worked together in preparation for a shared exhibition between October and November 2022. During this time I produced simple shapes in clay, some more representational than others, which I have pressed and scratched marks and textures into. I then added slip and glaze.
Each shape represents something I might have noticed during my daily walk around the park which felt different every day, despite being a similar route each time. I have ‘jigsawed’ these shapes together and put them into a hand made wooden box which can be hung on the wall.
Each box is signed and titled on the back.
