Working with me

I really enjoy running art & printmaking workshops for all children from primary school age upwards. I have an MA in Arts Education and over 12 years experience teaching art, design and textiles at a teacher of Art, Design and Textiles in Secondary School.

My approach to planning and delivering art & printmaking workshops is centered around the belief that art is a joyful and creative activity that encourages and fosters many important practical and transferable skills. This includes enhanced fine motor skills as well as the skills of careful observation, of considered questioning and reasoning, of exploring viewpoints, of comparison and connection.

I encourage experimenting with materials, tools and techniques. Making art using a variety of approaches, using media to describe, to represent and to develop visual perception and literacy. My approach is always to encourage a playful and inquisitive attitude. To take risks, to problem solve and find acceptance and openness to creativity.

Importantly, as well as planning and delivering a creative art workshop for your school, I also bring examples of my own work to show  and I talk to your students about my life as a full-time artist as part of my visit.
