wrapping paper drying

I have a very untidy studio at the moment, but I c I have a very untidy studio at the moment, but I can’t tell you how happy a little view like this amongst the mess on my table makes me.

Anyone else get this?
Coming up with a few ideas for new greeting cards. Coming up with a few ideas for new greeting cards. As I love to make collages from my collection of printed papers, I tend to mostly use this approach for new designs.

Thinking of Spring I’ve made this one today. What do you think? Nice for a card design?
I’ve been continuing with daily creativity as much I’ve been continuing with daily creativity as much as I can these past few weeks. Not been posting as often as I know I’m meant to though. Ah well…..

Here’s a selection of small experimental stencil woodcut prints onto Japanese paper and later on some pages of experimental collage and print work in my sketchbook. I’ve got a few of these on the go at the moment. Working between them as I let layers dry.

I’m using my sketchbook to play with ideas without thinking too much. Using the left over paper stencil shapes from the woodcut prints along with additional painting, mark making and essentially doodling!

I find doodling can be a great starting point for new ideas these days. The same shapes keep reappearing…but sometimes they morph to become something new and interesting.
And just like that the lions were finished! The And just like that the lions were finished!

The ‘theme’ of my January this year was painting lions and being fucking freezing. 😂

I am super delighted that I have now at last finished. The shiny varnish has been applied and they look really nice if I do say so myself.

I’ve loved being involved in the @prideofyorkshiretrail. The lovely organisers have been so friendly and helpful with cups of tea and moving heaters around to try and help us keep warm.

It’s been so fun to hang out with my fellow lion painters especially @lydialeighart @sarabudzikstudio @makermrs @emmajanebarnsley.art @jamesgreenprintworks @hollygreenwooddesign @judyrandle_art @watersounds @coloursof__ @roblee_art @thisissianellis @geolaw and more!

I can’t wait to see them all together and also see where my two end up!

Now I’m having a bit of a tidy up and a bit of recovery time before I’m back getting ready for more school workshops and fairs.
Due to the weather I’m not painting my lions today Due to the weather I’m not painting my lions today ( or yesterday) and I’m realising how flipping tired I am! 🥱💤

Anyway, I set myself a daily creative challenge at the beginning of Jan - in addition to painting the lions, which despite me not sharing on here everyday, I have pretty much kept up. It’s been a nice way of relaxing after a days work crouched or somewhat hunched in an awkward position, carefully painting my design in the large airy/chilly space above the Moor.

The work ( collages and prints) is stacking up in my untidy studio and I plan to get some of it on my website shop very soon.

I’ll also be bringing new prints to the fairs I have coming soon. I’ll be at @sunnybankmills Print Festival on Sunday 8th March and at @farnhammaltingscraft printworks festival on Sunday 19th April. Exciting!!

Oh and of course I’m joining in with @openupsheffield in May too! Can’t miss that!
A few details of my @prideofyorkshiretrail Lions a A few details of my @prideofyorkshiretrail Lions as they head towards completion. My hands were so cold today I could barely hold my paintbrush, but I made a few more steps in the right direction touching up bits and finishing off details. It feels like a never ending but nevertheless wonderful job and I’m pretty pleased with how they are both looking.
Just a few photo details from a quick wander about Just a few photo details from a quick wander about in the ‘lion’s den’ @prideofyorkshiretrail this week. The work is looking amazing and I’m so struck by the variety, the care & attention to detail and the sheer love going into them all.

I’m endeavouring to be creative everyday producing collages and now simple stencil woodcut prints.

I’m loving making these prints. Working fairly small (a5size) I find it’s a good way of exploring an idea quickly.

It’s quite a change to my routine, traveling into town most days and working with others on something, rather than days at home alone in my studio. It’s good fun! Today I’ve been chatting away with @makermrs and @lydialeighart rather distractedly and with that ‘Friday feeling’ as we painted our lions. Still got quite a bit done!

Not even half way through yet but two weeks in. Need to speed up.

Chose one of my fave songs to accompany this post.
