Due to the weather I’m not painting my lions today

Due to the weather I’m not painting my lions today ( or yesterday) and I’m realising how flipping tired I am! 🥱💤

Anyway, I set myself a daily creative challenge at the beginning of Jan - in addition to painting the lions, which despite me not sharing on here everyday, I have pretty much kept up. It’s been a nice way of relaxing after a days work crouched or somewhat hunched in an awkward position, carefully painting my design in the large airy/chilly space above the Moor.

The work ( collages and prints) is stacking up in my untidy studio and I plan to get some of it on my website shop very soon.

I’ll also be bringing new prints to the fairs I have coming soon. I’ll be at @sunnybankmills Print Festival on Sunday 8th March and at @farnhammaltingscraft printworks festival on Sunday 19th April. Exciting!!

Oh and of course I’m joining in with @openupsheffield in May too! Can’t miss that!

A few details of my @prideofyorkshiretrail Lions as they head towards completion. My hands were so cold today I could barely hold my paintbrush, but I made a few more steps in the right direction touching up bits and finishing off details. It feels like a never ending but nevertheless wonderful job and I’m pretty pleased with how they are both looking.

What I’ve been working on this week, in between painting my lions for @prideofyorkshiretrail.

I’m endeavouring to be creative everyday producing collages and now simple stencil woodcut prints.

I’m loving making these prints. Working fairly small (a5size) I find it’s a good way of exploring an idea quickly.

A few action shots and details of my @prideofyorkshiretrail lions that I’ve been working on this week.

It’s quite a change to my routine, traveling into town most days and working with others on something, rather than days at home alone in my studio. It’s good fun! Today I’ve been chatting away with @makermrs and @lydialeighart rather distractedly and with that ‘Friday feeling’ as we painted our lions. Still got quite a bit done!

Not even half way through yet but two weeks in. Need to speed up.

Back to painting my lion tomorrow than hopefully I’ll have a bit of time after that.

Been doodling a bit with paint and then made a quick collage from one of the painted doodles. Part of my #dailyartchallenge

I do love a floral composition!

For the doodles I used this handy little set ( pic 4) which I’ve had for a good 7 years. They are well used and still going strong!

I received this roller in the post today - see the last pic. I’m excited to try it! It’s super soft at 25 shore and as Durathene rollers seem to have disappeared off the planet, I’m looking forward to trying this when inking up my wood blocks. Which I hope I’ll be doing soon.

Today’s #dailyart collage challenge took me the length of time to catch up with 2 episodes of the archers. Is it a teapot? Is it a strange dancing figure? I don’t know… I’m definitely getting quicker though!

Today has been really enjoyable! After a scary morning of very hazardous black ice causing accidents on our road, I’ve been back at the lion painting space on the Moor in Sheffield, painting for the @prideofyorkshiretrail. Before I got there, I dropped in at @johnstonespaint in Burngreave for tester pots of paint. They were very helpful indeed in the shop and one kind chap even brought my paint out to the car once it was mixed. There’s service!

Hopefully I’ll be back painting again tomorrow, weather permitting!
