Here I am today at @nottm_contemp for the final da Here I am today at @nottm_contemp for the final day of the print fair. Dressed in my ‘samoflage’ (thank you @joanna.rucklidge for the phrase) and donning a lampshade hat to finish off the look!!
Talking of lampshades, I still have a couple of spaces left on my lampshade printing workshop, in early November if you’d like to join me! I’ve added a link to this post if you’d like more info or please dm me for details.

Oh and do come and say hello if you are in Nottingham today!!! 🎉
Here I am at @nottm_contemp wearing my hand printe Here I am at @nottm_contemp wearing my hand printed too as promised. I’ve already had a lot of comments and I have to say it does go so well with my work on display.

I got here at lunchtime and have thoroughly enjoyed arranging my work and putting the whole display together.

We are here until 8pm and then all day Sat and Sunday. If you are in the area why not come and say hello!
Just collected some artwork from @cupolacontempora Just collected some artwork from @cupolacontemporaryart and Karen mentioned that folk visiting the exhibition had expressed surprise that I’d created some sculptural pieces (pic 1 and pic 2).

A little fact is that I actually studied sculpture for my fine art degree…printmaking came before and then, after my degree, I returned to it. I should have stuck with printmaking during my degree probably, but that’s another story.

Anyway, I looked out a few photos of one of the sculptures (pics 5,6,7 & 11) that I made during my degree…looking at recent work and the degree work, would you not agree I have been basically making the same work for the past 40 odd years!!

Talk about a thread running through all your work!! 😂
From hand printed with wood blocks textile, to fin From hand printed with wood blocks textile, to finished top!

I found some old fabric ( a section of tablecloth or sheet I think) and began printing with my woodblocks into it.

Using the ‘challenge 2’ on the sewing bee approach to sewing, I cobbled together a simple top.

I’ll be wearing it next weekend at @nottm_contemp for Print Fair Contemporary which is on Friday evening, as well as all weekend.

See if you can spot me amongst my lampshades!! 😂
Popped in quickly to see the Lions @prideofyorkshi Popped in quickly to see the Lions @prideofyorkshiretrail at Meadowhall on the last day of the farewell event. I’m so thrilled to have been part of this and it was great to see them all together again and see how much pleasure they were bringing folk as we wandered around the display. It was funny to see them on such a warm, sunny day and remember how cold, dark and wintery it was when I was painting them. Also, remembering the odd days during the paining process when I thought I’d never be happy with the final designs and that I’d never get them finished either!! I’ll never forget the experience and I look forward to seeing how the auctions go over the next couple of weeks.

Love the cute stickers too! 😁
Woohoo I’ve made a top. I printed an old sheet usi Woohoo I’ve made a top. I printed an old sheet using my wood blocks and after a bit of sewing, unpicking and sewing again, here it is!

I’ll be wearing it at the various fairs I have coming soon. I’ll be at @nottm_contemp for their print fair in a couple of weekends time and at @sheffieldprintfair a week or so after that. You’ll have to see if you can spot me amongst my lampshades! 😂

Have a great weekend all! 🎉
Would you like to learn how to print onto fabric a Would you like to learn how to print onto fabric and then turn your printed fabric into a lampshade?

If so I am running a workshop teaching exactly this on Saturday 7th November here in Sheffield.

There are still a few spaces left although I keep the classes small so I can give you plenty of help and support as you need it.

You can click on the link on this post or in my bio, or dm me for a link.

I’ve been printing ‘scribbles’ using different techniques since then. Using them in various ways in my work. This week I’ve cut a scribble out of a sheet of plywood. I’m not fully sure where I’ll take this though I have a few ideas. If you scroll through the photos you can see the whole process.

If you come to @cupolacontemporaryarts new exhibition ‘Structure’ you can find out! Preview is this evening at 7 and the exhibition is on until Oct 10th.
I seem compelled to create using my hands. To mak I seem compelled to create using my hands. To make things that bring me joy and a sense of order amid the chaos. Constant rearranging and reimagining. At the moment I’m enjoying seeing repeated motifs in different media across 2 and 3 dimensions. Here are a few photos of recent work and a few pieces will be exhibited at @cupolacontemporaryart from next weekend through to October, for their exhibition ‘Structure’.

The preview is this Friday evening.
