Today I am spending a little time planning worksho

Today I am spending a little time planning workshops for Y2 and Y4 students whom I’ll be visiting early next year. I am having so much fun! I love devising art and printmaking activities for children that link to their schools curriculum. I love the challenge of it. Bringing something exciting and creative that helps embed and extend what they’ve been learning about in school.

Yesterday I was invited to see the artworks I was commissioned to create for Maple Ward, which is an adult acute mental health ward in Sheffield.
I was one of several artists who produced artworks, as well as running a series of workshops for service users.
My final works displayed in the ward, were created in part as a response to the work produced by the participants on the workshops and also in response to the brief given to me by the arts in health coordinator @sooboswell who has been amazing throughout the process.

This experience has been a highlight of my year. The whole process that was funded by @sheffhospitalcharity has been an amazing opportunity to create a body of work in collaboration with and for those experiencing accute mental health problems.

I’ve spent this afternoon packing up some of my minibeast prints from original collages. I made the collages a whole ago now. I set myself the task of creating each collage in 15 minutes, as part of the 100 days of creativity challenge. I think I managed about 2 weeks of that challenge! 🤪

November so far…. 1. My parents-in-law celebrated

November so far….

1. My parents-in-law celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary with all their children, grandchildren, some great grandchildren, along with their siblings, nieces and nephews in Glasgow.

2. I bought a beautiful painting from @belfoxstudio who it turns out lives 5 mins from me. I also continued to frame up other artwork to display in our front room.

3. I’ve been attempting to propagate some of my house plants. These seem to be doing well.

4. It’s been wet! I won’t show you the horrible stain on my extension roof…third attempt to sort the leak yesterday so 🤞🤞

5. I delivered a really interesting mono-screen printing workshop for @carousel_print_studio

6. I also ran a textile printing workshop with @carousel_print_studio, both were for the Snowdrop project. It’s been an absolute privilege to take part in this.

7. New washing machine was eventually delivered! Not impressed with @johnlewis who took three attempts to deliver.

8. In between I’ve been printing onto my bamboo cat and flower shapes ready for fairs at @sunnybankmills and @rivelinco fairs soon.

9. My two favourite people. Heading to the 70th wedding anniversary party mentioned above.

Whoop! I’ve finished my woodcut printed lampshades.

I’ll be bringing some of these to @spiralsfairtrade in Hebden bridge tomorrow along with some other hand printed goodies!

I’m just hand printing some labels for them now ( why do the final jobs always take longer than you expect?) and then I’ll be packing the order up ready to hand deliver tomorrow.

Can’t wait to see lovely Hebden bridge again.

Renewal The final of 6 works I’ve created for the

Renewal

The final of 6 works I’ve created for the Adult Acute Mental Heath ward commission.

Made up of some of the printed stencil off-cuts from other prints in the series. It repeats some of the shapes both positive and negative of the print that is 5th in the series ‘The path chosen’, but is a collage rather than a print.

I’m collecting all the work now framed, from the framers today and it will be heading to its new home before long. It’s been an amazing experience and I’m really looking forward to seeing the work when it’s hung.
