This Sunday I’m super excited to be taking part in

This Sunday I’m super excited to be taking part in @farnhammaltingscraft ‘s Printworks Festival which is taking place at @farnhammaltings.

I actually lived in Farnham as a child (many, many years ago now!) and having not been back in a looooong time, I’m making a weekend of it to visit some places I remember from my childhood. As a lot of my work is actually inspired by this time in my life I think this is going to be a very special trip!

How’s your week been?

I’ve had a lot on this week including running a full day of printing in a local primary school, helping @rivelinco young creatives paint their lion cub for @prideofyorkshiretrail, I’ve planned and packed everything for another workshop this Sunday with @artison_masham - a new workshop that took quite some planning and I also received an enquiry for more workshops and for a local commission too!! Whoop!

Excitingly my new card order from @theimagingcentre also arrived yesterday and I’ll be delivering my cards to the local stockists very soon.

It’s all been really good stuff with lots of variety, which is what I really love and it makes me so glad I decided to take the leap to become a full time artist nearly 12 years ago.

I think I’m getting the hang of this self employment lark at last….

Had a great evening at the Millenium Gallery last

Had a great evening at the Millenium Gallery last night for the @prideofyorkshiretrail design selection event. Each design was displayed along with a couple of photos and a bit explaining the inspiration behind the art work.

Sponsors had a chance to choose their top 5 designs from the selection. So many great designs choose from, we will just have to wait and see what happens now!!

It was great to catch up with some of the other artists and meet a few artists who painted their lions are a different time to me too. Everyone agreed it was such a wonderful thing to be involved with. All going to raise money for @sheffchildrenshospitalcharity

Remember I said I was aiming to create something everyday in January? Well I still am, though posting about this I’m not so conscientious about.

Anyway, I’m pleased with three of my daily collages that have just arrived as sample cards from @theimagingcentre.

I have to order lots more cards and stationary soon as I’m running low and I’m definitely adding these to my collection.

I have a couple of weeks of working at my own pace

I have a couple of weeks of working at my own pace. Planning workshops, developing new ideas for work, tidying and sorting out my studio (and house) planting seeds both literally and figuratively.

Then I have a slightly bonkers week with two full day workshops, one in a school and one a long way up the M1, so a three hour plus commute, an evening workshop, a performance with my choir and a night out dancing. I am trying to mentally prepare myself for that week but I can feel myself getting anxious.

Unfortunately this is the reality for lots of folk maybe especially if you are self employed. If this happens to you how do you avoid getting overwhelmed? Any tips on how to manage the overload?
