Sharing some images from my printing this week. E Sharing some images from my printing this week.

Experiments on paper and fabric using a selection of carved plywood blocks.

It’s been a lovely week of feeling really absorbed in the process and making lots of discoveries along the way. A chat with Pete at @cupola_framing helped too.

It’s been just me and @notatennisplayer at home as our girl is away in Scotland for her D of E. Can’t wait to see her and hear all her news.

Working on a big commission at the moment. Doing l Working on a big commission at the moment. Doing lots of experimenting with shades of blues and greens and cutting sections of wood in vaguely geometric shapes. Trying out different surfaces to print into and discovering lots of interesting and unexpected things as I go.

All this is interspersed with hanging out with @notatennisplayer while our girl is away on D of E. Basically I’m having a very nice week.

Also been discussing how great Duran Duran were….

Still playing with shapes, colour and arrangement. Still playing with shapes, colour and arrangement. Ideas are forming!

Despite being utterly sapped of energy earlier and having to cut short a walk with my gorgeous friend Rebecca, I’ve returned to my studio and had a very productive afternoon.

I’ve cut a new block before printing it this lovely shade of blue. This has fired me up ready for my woodcut workshop tomorrow with @carousel_print_studio

Had a really productive and very fun day today mee Had a really productive and very fun day today meeting up with @joanna.rucklidge, @studioaprille and @shirleystevenson175 for a bit of a crit session. I’m just beginning work on an exciting new commission and really appreciated their invaluable feedback. We all brought either some artwork to discuss or some food for lunch which we ate in the garden as it was so lovely and sunny! Lots of laughter too which is always good!

It’s something we hope to do in a regular basis. It’s so easy to become a bit of a hermit working on my own from home and I have made a decision this year that I’d love to collaborate more with others. I think after many years of working on my own for so long this is going to be a really positive step!!

Hello hello! I’ve been a bit quiet on the socia Hello hello!

I’ve been a bit quiet on the socials recently. Lots going on behind the scenes though. I am delighted to have some work in the @the.yardgallery’s Summer in Technicolour exhibition and I have some really exciting projects coming up in a month or so which I’ll be sharing more about soon.

Today I enjoyed a walk in the rain (for the brief time it lasted) as I visited with the activity and engagement officer at Shire Brook Valley to discuss a workshop I’ll be running for them in September. There’s going to be some printing and some collage and a rather gorgeous Art Deco building (as well as the beautiful nature we see) will be the inspiration for all of this!!

Speaking of workshops I have lots of exciting new ones coming up for various groups over the summer and into the Autumn. You can find out more on my website and if you sign up to be on my email list you’ll be the first to hear all my news and get the odd special offer too!

A leisurely breakfast in the sunny garden.
A leisurely stroll to the tram in the sunshine.
A short journey on public transport to my destination where I had an exciting meeting about a new art and workshops commission.

Now I’m having a think about all the possibilities for this project. So exciting!

I’m currently hunched over my laptop (must remem I’m currently hunched over my laptop (must remember my posture) updating my website with the aim of sorting out the different categories of art work into clear sections and generally getting much more of my original print work online.

Following in from my last post where I celebrated the happiness I feel creating one off prints, here is the down side of this. Every individual print has to be photographed (well!) and uploaded with details such as dimensions, etc.

I have lost count of how many prints I have wrapped up before taking high quality photographs, only to have to unwrap them again to photograph and re-wrap!

Anyone else do this? Or am I the only one! 😬

Hello! It’s high time I showed my face on here Hello!

It’s high time I showed my face on here again as it’s been a while. I’ve been a bit distracted with some life stuff (does it ever end?) and it’s easy to get out of the swing of posting.

So, I thought I’d share a bit of info about who I am and about my work as a full time artist/printmaker and teacher of art/printmaking as I have had a few new follows recently. Thankyou!

A few things about me that you may not know.

I have been working as a full time printmaker for nearly 11 years!! Before that I had a variety of jobs including being a secondary teacher of Art, design and textiles. I was also a waiter, an interior decorator, I worked with multiply disabled adults for some time, I was an apprentice cabinet maker for a very short while and I worked as an art leader in youth clubs. Not in that order!

I met my husband while working as a waiter and decided within about 1 week of meeting him I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him. This was 28 years ago….

I was formally diagnosed with ADHD about 2 years ago. It does feel like a lot of things now Make a lot of sense about my life. But I haven’t changed the way I do anything because how I am works for me.

I make mostly woodcut prints along with some linocut and other forms of printing and I like to make collages out of the prints that end up on the ‘not good enough’ pile. My prints are usually one off because I simply cannot do the same print twice. I cannot think of anything more boring because I absolutely love the feeling when you peel back a print to see the unexpected results! Biggest dopamine rush ever!!! Why would you print an edition where you know what the print is going to look like????

That’s my take on it anyway! Controversial? 😂

Anything else you’d like to know about my work? Pictures are of me, my studio, some recent school workshop prep and my lampshade workshop on Sunday.
