‘Banner’ is a one-off textile wall hanging I created as part of my ‘A world of our own’ exhibition. It has been hand printed using woodcut printing and screen printing onto an ‘end of roll’ length of linen. I then appliquéd onto the fabric with off cuts of blue linen and further embellished the piece with fragments of silk screen mesh that I embroidered with ‘seed stitch’. I love the way the translucent screen mesh allows the colours underneath to show through.

I have embroidered my initials on the right hand side and also sewn my hand printed logo onto the back too. The work has been backed with a section of brushed cotton fabric tablecloth that was handed down to me.

The work has a hanging sleeve and comes with a length of dowel for the top and bottom and red cord to hang it.
