I’ve had a quick walk round just as the doors opened @nottm_contemp this morning for the #printfaircontemporary that’s on all day today and tomorrow.

It’s grey and cold outside, so what could be better than visiting us here to see all the colourful printed gorgeousness on display!

I know it feels too early to mention this, but the weather is very Wintery today, so maybe it’s ok?

Anyway, I’m running an afternoon workshop of simple printing of cards and gift wrap on Sunday November 17th at Worrall Community Hall which is on the outskirts of Sheffield, very close to where I am in Hillsborough.

If you would like to join me that would be lovely. I’ll be sharing a couple of simple techniques to create gorgeous prints and we can maybe have a mince pie and a glass of mulled wine too.

And I haven’t even mentioned the ‘C’ word.

Making up my lampshades today. What you can’t he

Making up my lampshades today. What you can’t hear is the sound of drills and banging as joiners, plumbers and plasterers are working on the living room downstairs. Tramping around the house and generally causing a bit of upheaval.

It’s very distracting and I’m taking much longer than usual to finish these. I’m just hoping I don’t mess them up!

I’m reminding myself that the chaos now will all be worth it in the end!

New cards just arrived from @theimagingcentre and

New cards just arrived from @theimagingcentre and I love them!

I created some timed collages at the end of August when it really felt like Autumn was fast approaching. Ok, so I know now it’s feeling more like Winter quite often (though not today!) but the leaves in my garden are still turning a beautiful shade of red and these lovely cards still feel timely.

I’ll be dropping them off at the @sheffieldmakershuntersbar @anniejudesshopsheffield and @thegreenshopsheffield over the next few days and they be on my website soon too.

Hellooo!

I thought I’d pop on the gram in this extremely wet and grey Monday morning to say hi and thank you for your support, be it liking my posts, commenting or even just scrolling past but having a smile in your heart as you do it.

In case you are a new follower ( or even if you have been seeing my posts for a while) I thought I’d share a few things about me.

I am a full time printmaker, ( mostly wood and linocut) collage artist & workshop tutor living in Hillsborough, Sheffield.

I work from my home studio ( see second pic) which is in the main front bedroom of our terraced house.

I’ve been full time at this for 10 years, after working as a secondary school teacher of art and textiles.

I am so much happier working as a full time artist than at any other time. I’ve come to realise how much I like variety in my life. I love to try different things in my print work and you can see this if you ever visit me at an event as you’ll see I block print onto paper, wood and fabric to make everything from prints, to lampshades, to earrings! With quite a few other things in between. Is this a good thing? I don’t know but it’s just how I roll!

One thing is for sure, everything is bold & brightly coloured and very much about play. I love how people really smile when they see my work. The word ‘joyful’ is used a lot and It makes my day. It’s a big part of why I love what I do.

I also LOVE to teach printmaking ( and any art) and I run lots of workshops. You can find out more about this in my linktree in my bio.

I had a lot of fun playing with some simple but effective printing techniques, when I devised this lampshade printing workshop. My ideas were inspired by the beautiful @lubnachowdhary exhibition, currently in at the Graves @sheffmuseums

Thanks so much to the organisers of the print fair

Thanks so much to the organisers of the print fair @compton_verney for a great weekend.

I had a really enjoyable long weekend away in Warwickshire as it was a bit too far to drive back to Sheffield each day.

The grounds of Compton Verney are gorgeous and the weather was so beautiful. The morning walk through the park to get to the house each morning was the perfect start to the day.

It was fun to go out for tea and a drink with @katebrooksprints and my neighbours @hannah.mcvicar abd @arboretumprintco were loads of fun.

Thanks so much to all the lovely customers who bought from me including fellow printmakers @sianlovemade, @liztooleart @redrutho & of course the earrings really suit you @arboretumprintco !!!

Inspired by some playful collages I made in my sketchbook, I’ve created these somewhat fanciful colourful abstract linocut prints.

They are making me think of fabulous French cakes, circus balancing acts and poodles! 😂
