I found this time lapse film from a while ago when I was tidying my studio. Tidying my studio is a regular occurrence as I am super untidy but I cannot function happily in a mess.

Right now I’ll admit it’s a mess again, but in less than 3 weeks it will be lovely and tidy because it’s OPEN UP SHEFFIELD!!

I hope you can come and visit me and my fellow Hillsborough Open Up Sheffielder Trevor Fearnley. 😄 there are loads of other participants in S6 too. Why not make a day of it!

In just over 3 weeks time I’ll be opening up my

In just over 3 weeks time I’ll be opening up my home studio for @openupsheffield.⭐️

Come and see where I work, have a go at some printmaking, look through my sketchbooks and find out more about what I do.
There will be a selection of original woodcut prints onto paper, printed textiles and my hand printed wooden ‘flat pack’ prints. I’ll have older work for sale too, including lots of bargains and some lucky dip bags which were so popular last year. I was able to donate £50 to charity from the sale of these.

This is about the 15th year (!!) I’ve joined in with Open Up Sheffield (I think) and it’s always so much fun. It’s so interesting to see all the various spaces where artists work. I’m part of the #s6 group though I think most are up in Walkley. It’s not too far down the hill to come and see me. 😁

In between making prints I also like to make collages.

I’ve been cutting, arranging and sticking in a fairly intentional way, as I’m thinking up new ideas for greeting cards.

I’m also beginning to think of an idea for a children’s book I think I’d really like to create.

I’ve chosen the Pixies Monkey Gone to Heaven as I enjoyed listen to Prof Alice Robert’s on Desert Island Discs while I did this and she chose this as her first song.

Hello!

I am noticing a bit more visibility on here recently so I am just popping on to say hi 👋 and thank you so much for the likes and comments.

For my new followers I’m Sam, I’m a printmaker of mostly wood and linocut prints and I also run lots of printmaking workshops. I love printing with bright colours and playing with abstract and organic shapes to make one off joyful prints.

I’m not very consistent on social media so I’m posting at the same time every day and so far I’ve noticed it’s actually making a bit of a difference. Woohoo!

An absolutely lovely day running a ‘print your own lampshade’ for three sisters.

One of the ladies, Pip has been on a few of my workshops and she asked if I could run a special one for the three of them on a mutually agreeable date.

I was a delight to organise a day for them to do something creative together and the results I’m sure you’ll agree were very impressive.

I’m running a couple of children’s workshops i

I’m running a couple of children’s workshops in Rotherham next week.
Part of Roots -Rotherham Street Carnival which is taking place on Saturday 13th April.
There will be lots of textile printing and sewing taking place to create several banners. Right now I’m really still at the ‘playing with ideas’ phase but I’m beginning to form a clear idea of what the children will be producing.

Lots of colour and shapes inspired by the River Don and the nature around the river. I’ll share more soon.
